  •  Hi limor,
I'll definitely be there tonight; I posted a note at http://www.igda.org/dcmetro for the event. Let's set aside some time to talk IGDA afterwards.

  •  Hi Limor,
Thank you. I've left word with them. The meeting sounds awesome. Thanks for putting it together.

  •  Quoth the Schafman: "What kind of simulation company? Can you tell us more?"

Sure, happy to. The initial product we're working on is a manufacturing simulator to teach the basics of the Theory of Constraints, which is a technique that helps identify and remove limitations in production processes. There is a lot of textual information, and some spreadsheet-based simulations, but no web-based production for teaching ToC.

Our next product is (tentatively) a game focused on carbon markets.

  •  Limor,

It would be useful for me to know what skill sets developers know are useful in the game development industry, so I could pass them on to my students. Specific computer languages, specific programs, specific job titles that are in high demand.

Thanks for arranging the event; I learned more about the local game development in two hours that I would have in weeks of Googling.

  •  I'm building a tech startup and thinking about moving to in the DC area. I've done research and it looks like a nice place, but I'd love to get an opinion from someone who lives in the DC area and works in the tech industry. If you have time to answer some questions I'd greatly appreciate it. What I want to know is what you think of the place? What is the tech industry like there; are there a lot of startups or just big business and government? Any info you could share would really help. Thanks
