I am a new member here, but I was wondering if this group has ever developed a video game together? As in, we schedule a meet up, gather ideas for a story, characters, design the game, and work on it from start to finish? It could be any kind of game from a first person/third person shooter, survival horror, action adventure, or all the above.
With so many game engines that are currently available for a reasonable price (Unity, Torque 3D, C4, and Leadworks), it is certainly feasible to pool money together and invest in one of these engines and spend a few months or years building an entire game. That would give everyone (artists, programmers, designers, writers, musicians, etc) something to put on their resumes, and it would be a perfect way to educate each other on working in a pipeline just like in the video game industry.
As an added bonus, it would give us something to show that we are capable of putting a game together from start to finish. Maybe eventually even forming a company name that could be used as a stepping stone to get people into the game's industry and/or just make great story driven games.

I am new to the industry as I am attending school this year. You need to take the lead or ask someone who has a bit more experience in our group. I am interested in joining the team that you propose. Thanks.
